The Bakken oil boom has transformed rural western North Dakota. Flares light the night sky, huge trucks clog the roads and dust filters over farms and fields.
Theodore Roosevelt National Park is smack in the middle of it all. So far, park employees have been able to keep the oil development from impacting the visitor experience, but it’s an on-going challenge.
