Colorado’s energy future will be discussed at an Inside Energy/Payne Institute forum at Colorado School of Mines Sept. 8.

Colorado’s energy portfolio and what it stands to gain or lose in this November’s general election will be the  featured topic when Inside Energy journalists join forces with the Payne Institute for Earth Resources at Colorado School of Mines in Golden.

The Inside Energy team will press a panel of experts on critical energy issues to help the voting public make informed decisions. This is one of the energy journalism collaborative’s signature “Spark!” events, open free to the public via invitation, and featuring – in addition to the panel discussion – a multimedia presentation, energy trivia, networking, drinks and hors d’oeuvres.

Petitions are being circulated for three proposed ballot initiatives aimed at curbing the state’s oil and gas industry, with an Aug. 8 deadline for qualification.

The Spark! event runs from 5:00 PM to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8,  at the Ben H. Parker Student Center, 1200 16th Street, Golden.

Rocky Mountain PBS is a founding member of the energy journalism collaborative, a multi-state initiative with impact on public radio, public television and other platforms.
